I have a stock control database written in Access 2000 which prints off despatch notes on tractor feed fanfold paper 11inches in length. The print queue is set to the correct paper length and type however on the page setup in the printer options within Access there is no option for printing on paper of this length. The nearest is A4 which is 11 3/4 inch length and therefore the despatch notes get progressively lower down on each page. I sometimes have to print off upto 20 notes at a time and therefore have to keep stopping the prints to manually wind the paper back in the printer. You can imagine how frustrating this is, and would therefore appreciate any advice that anybody could give.

Thanks

In the printer's driver settings is there an option to define it as continuous feed as the paper source? It seem to me that the last system I used with a printer using that type of paper there was a configuration option to define it so that it would take the feed into account for where pages started and stopped.

Thanks for your help

Thanks for you help, however the printer settings are all set for the correct paper type and size but the printer settings within Access itself overrides the printers own driver settings. That is the problem, the access print settings does not have the paper type that I need available from its list of available papers. Thanks anyway

Creating a Custom Page Size

You can create a custom Paper Size by going to the Server Properties of the print server or PC that is hosting the target printer. You get there by selecting Printers and Faxes from the Start menu and clicking File>Server Properties.

Once you have the server properties dialog box open, you can create a new form using the options under the Forms tab. Once you save your new form, which includes the custom paper size, you can select it from Access under the Page Setup>Page.

I've done this before and it works perfectly in Access 97; I've recently had a nightmare of a time getting Access 2003 to retain these custom settings after they have been saved and the Access file is moved to another server or computer. Still trying to figure that one out.

I've gone through the process described above and created my paper size in the printers and faxes section. Howeve, when I go to set the paper size for my report in both Access XP and Access 2003, it doesn't see the new paper size. It does have a paper size called "user defined" but I see no way to define it.
