:)I'm new to Access. I have a new database and I want to populate it by sending emails to the record subjects so they can fill in their own details. Access appears to have a great system for this.

I tried it. I can happily send emails with the field forms ready to fill in. The only problem is that none of my recipients can edit the blank fields.

I don't get any error messages, and I can't find the root of the problem.

I'm using Access 2007, Outlook 2007 in HTML mode, and following the instructions.

Anyone else had this problem?

that would be very clever - i didn't think Access could do this - i know you can make forms in Outlook and send out and once completed they come back as info - but to do that from within Access that s clever -

yes, and they automatically complete the record for you. PROVIDING you can get the things to work. Which is my problem.

Anyone offer any suggestions?

This might be a stupid question, but...

Are your recipients using Outlook (not express), and not some other mail client? This sounds like one of those things that hasn't a hope of working in the world outside of that which is controlled by Microsoft (it does exist - I've seen it!).

Maybe not such a stupid question, but makes up for it by being vague: Could this be something to do with security configuration on the receiving mail client?

Problem solved. The recipient has to click 'Reply' in before the fields become active. Doing this has solved my problem and I can now collect data automatically via email. Not often that I thank Mr Gates, but this one has a yay factor of at least eight.
