Hi all,

I had created a db and I want to deploy that to 15 pc's . which is the best way to accomplish that..I want to reduce the traffic to server. Can I use the same shortcut to the db in every pc?

Thanks in advance

Thanks

puthenveetil,

When you say "reduce the traffic" on the server, performance seems to
be an issue. In a post this short to mention that aspect seems to
say that the server's performance is already an issue.

Split your database into a front-end with the forms/reports etc. and
the back-end with only the data. If you use Access Help or the Search
Facility here, you should find info on (SPLIT, FRONT-END or BACK-END).
This will save the overhead of constantly moving your forms over the
network.

Then a copy of the Front-End, with linked tables to the Server's
Back-End can be placed on each client's pc.

Back to performance, with 15 users, you won't want to base your forms
on just the tables. That's a lot of needless information to move over
the network. You should base your forms on queries that use combo or
list boxes to filter the data. If you use the Search Facility here,
you should find info on (SEARCH).

Additionally, if you don't want the users mucking around with things,
you can look into making the Front-End into a "compiled" .MDE file.
