I have an Access database which I have developed it has linked tables to an oracle database and therefore requires TNSNAMES.DSN file.

A colleague who would like a copy of the database on his PC and would like to know how to install the Access database on his PC.

To be honest I have no idea. I cannot remember how the TNSNAMES.DSN file comes into play.

If I send him the database and the TNSNAMES file where does he place it and how does Access know where it is.

Sorry if this is a trivial question but just don't know how it works.

Thanks in advance for any advise

You need to create an ODBC to connect to the Oracle database. Since you are using a DSN file, go to the control panel and doubleclick "Data Sources ODBC", choose "File DSN".
You have to find out where Windows expects the DSN files. That's where the DSN file should reside. Put it there.
