Merging two columns

Hi all.

I have to columns I'd like to merge.

A B
1 2
3 4
5 6

The thing is I need the result to be...

C
1
2
3
4
5
6

Any ideas? Thanks.

Hi all.

I know this isn't the right place but the Excel forum is rather dead and I thought maybe you guys might know the solution.

You could just copy all of Column B and paste it below column A and then Sort the column so it's in numerical order.

Not really true, it is just that there aren't as many questions posted there. But I know several forum members who are Excel experts and monitor that forum.

Is this a one-time thing or are you thinking to do an automated solution for something that is frequently occurring?

Hi guys,

Really appreciate the replies.

Bob,

Just a one-off quickie :) Thanks for the advice.

DJ,

That's worked mate - I don't think I was thinking!!

Thanks a lot.

Hello:

The easiest way would be to do this in a query.

Relate both tables by a primary key then base a query on these two tables. Add a third column to concatenate your columms. Then run the query and utilize a MakeTable Query to make a new table.

Mark

Sorry Mark but this is Excel not Access.

Copy and paste ColA into col C
then Col B beneath that , then sort Col C remembering to select continue with current selection when prompted by the system to expand your selection to other data.

Hello:

If you had a column in Column A and a Column in B, the formula for Column C would be:

=A1&B1

Just copy it down for the rest of the rows

He doesn't want them concatenating he just wants one list of both columns, Brians suggestion will work fine.

Also, don't post the same question more than once. Posting to multiple categories only confuses people and someone may answer in one and someone else might not see that answer and take the time to answer when it has already been answered.

I merged the two posts so if it looks confusing that is why.
