Hi All,
I have created a very small database that acts as a booking system for 5 training dates. There are 20 spaces available on each date, after that the room is full.
I have located the back end database on our firms server. I have created a front end user form that I intend to hyperlink or email directly to all candidates.

The idea is that they use the link or form to view the availalbe date slots and enter their name in the desired date on a first come first served basis.

My table is a simple one that has 5 text fields that represents each training day. I also have a number field that goes from 1 to 20.
I have created a form that is therefore 5 columns by 20 rows and the users just enters in their name on a suitable day and a free slot. When all slots are filled on a particular day then they have no provision to 'over book'.

Problem is that is does work but if someone types in to the same box at the same time there is an error.

I could do with some advice on how to get the above done but by some how getting the user to select a training day (this field does not have to be a date as the text label can define the actual date). BUT only if there is a free slot and also not allowing more than 20 booking per day.

Sorry for the long post and also if its in the wrong forum.

Any help would be well recieved this end.
Cheers.

Hi twosides

assuming you haven't solved this yet, I would change your front end form to just have one button for each of the five days, and a TextBox/ComboBox for the user to input his/her name. The user then clicks on the preferred day and the supplied name is then added to the table on that day in the next available slot.

When the user opens the form, if the full 20 slots have been taken up for any particular day, then the button for that day is not enabled, thus preventing overbooking.
