Google Docs Competition

Hi Guys, Im very new to this area. But am hoping for some assistance. I am looking for a program or software that is similar to the Google Docs program. What i am after,

A Live Document/Form where staff can select from items on a list and submit live over the internet - through to my website. It will then be published with a accurate date and accurate time of submission.

The document will then need to populate automatically a spreadsheet in excel format that can be viewed via my website by clients.

Am i drawing at straws or is this possible ? Please any help or direction is more than greatly appreciated.

I would guess the type of software you need would require a dedicated work involving a deep knowledge of web design, html, css, xml, databases, and probably even more areas. It's no wonder you refer to google when it comes to such brilliant web technologies.

In Google docs there is a template for a questionnaire which one can set up to provide various types of selections, and embed it in a website though iframe, on submit the thing adds the content to a goolge docs spreadsheet or somethung. It's been a while since i played with it.
