grow shrink?

Hello,

I'm a novice database builder but know the basics pretty well. No SQL or VBA training though-- just learning code recently.

Can someone please help with this problem:

I just need data fields within my report to expand or shrink HORIZONTALLY. The data i pull from my source is largely words and memos. For example, i line up a person's first middle and last name fields but still find large spaces in print preview. I can't get the fields to expand or shrink to fit. the "can grow" and "can shrink" commands are useless for htis as they operate VERTICALLY.

I realize i'm using Acess in an unorthodox manner, but there's gotta be a way to do this.

Open a text box on the report and put in:
=[First Name] & " " & [Middle Name]&" "&[Last Name]
