I place my vote on the great wall of china. Although the wall itself isn't marvelous, but it's lenght is just awesome. For something that old, it is fantastic to think about it's construction. How can't today's engineers do simple things right, while they were able to build that wall back then?

Not to put to fine a point on it.

Today’s engineers do some pretty remarkable magic.

The Great Wall was more of a management operation than an engineering one.

So do I understand this right... some guy decided that a loose collection of world-wide "wonders" isn't goood enough so he wants to officialize a list of seven? Not to be all negative, but that's kinda lame...

BTW, if we want to include a skyscraper, then the Sears Tower is a better choice than the Empire State Building. It still holds the title for world's tallest building and is located in Chicago, where the first skyscraper was constructed.

Yes 40$CAN. ~30Euros
And a lot of tourists pay that price not to get on the other side, but just to get on the bridge, coming back right after.
BTW, getting on the island is free. You just pay to get out of it.
There is also the alternative ferry, but it is almost as expensive and it is a really big wait, while passing by the bridge is done in less than 15 minutes.

We have a similar bridge over the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay. The cool part is that if you turn around anywhere on the bridge you don’t have to pay

I think it was (based on previous comments) a reference to Joe's opinion that Texas is a wonderful place to live and Rich wouldn't want to leave. :)
