Hi, my name is Ed and I made my way here basically due to the closure of my favorite MS Access site "Utter Access", although I must say that Google has led me here on several occasions over the years as well. I'm a self-taught (with a lot of help from enthusiasts at UA and other sites I've come across) Access user; I mostly use Access to help keep track of data for a volunteer fire department. I look forward to spending a lot of time here, soaking up wisdom as needed and (perhaps) giving back if and when I can.

Thanks for having me!

Hello, Ed, and welcome to the forums. You are involved with a Volunteer Fire Dept. My dad was a smoke-eater for Jefferson Parish, Louisiana back in the 1960s.

Funny, but true ... when I joined in the early-70's there were no SCBAs, hence "smoke eaters". It amazed me that a crew would exit a working structure fire and cough up a lung on the front lawn, then proceed to light up a Marlboro or a Camel!! We generally fought to grab the nozzle going in because when it was set to a fog stream (a) it was cooler and (b) you could breathe the cleaner air the line pulled in. The good ole days!! Thanks for the reminder!
