Hi Albert. You surely don't remember me, but you helped me (plenty) years ago on UA. Thanks for coming over here and contributing!
I always like your posts because you go above and beyond to provide the user a bunch of educational info, considering different contexts and possibilities and it's just plain valuable stuff.
I certainly remember your name from UA.
Thanks for the kind words. As noted, Access and the community just seems to live forever.
I really can't think of a platform that I used as long as Access. It's been around though what I call "several" computer generations and iterations of technology in our industry. Like most industries, about every 10 years, some significant change comes along
(jump from text/Green screen to GUI, rise of the web, rise of the smartphone, rise of cloud computing etc.).
So, while I do web work, and am at home with JavaScript, CSS etc.?
I am still VERY active and using Access in my development mix.
Access came around when the GUI (windows) was really taking off, so us folks using DOS based FoxPro, dbase, clipper etc.?
Most (i hope!!!) then jumped rather quick over to Access.
And we never looked back....
Access "under the covers" had the correct architecture - thus allowing it to play nice for client to server.
I still work with Access - and some locations have over 100 desktops hitting SQL server -- and it works just fab!
Anyway, glad I found where everyone seems to be hanging out -- I'm sure I'll enjoy being here - and I do recognize boatloads of names.....
I mean, Access been running longer then the TV series Cheers......
But, unlike that TV show, we still get to come back for more Access - and the lights aren't out yet!
R
Albert
