how do I make my access database able to be used by multiple users

I have access 2000 on my machine I have to first downgrade the database to 97 since all the machines here are 97. I put the database file on a network drive. How can I make this file able to be opened by multiple people and allow it to be updated from multiple locations. Also, is there a easy script or program I can use to make daily backups? Let me know I am sorry this is a lot.
 
If you simply want to save the db as A97, then go to Tools\Database Utilities\Convert Database\To Prior Access Version. Problem is, you'll have difficulty in using it yourself with A2000.

What I have done here is split the database and have an A97 front end and an A2000 front end. The back end has to be A97. The either give people a shortcut to the appropriate FE or let the FE sit on each machine.
