I have spent the last 4 hours trying to post a message to a forum, getting network error, server too busy, database error to name but a few.

Finally it posted 5 minutes ago.

How long does it generally take people to post to the forums here .. I've never had such bad problems before with posting to this forum!

As my other thread indicated it has been bad in the UK betwen 11:00 and 15:00 approx for a while, but today it has been hopeless, how bad I don't really know as I gave up, it was still no good at 16:00 but about 10 minutes ago 16:35 when I tried again it is ok.

It seems to very time dependent so the times are very variable. Not sure the poll will tell us anything useful unless there was a way of including the time of day as well.

I am located in the US and I have found that it is almost impossible to even access the forums from early AM (say 5:30 AM) until after about 10:30 AM. I have no idea what is causing it but is would seem that perhaps some sort of back up or database activity may be taking place.

I have dialup so I have patience for slow response to everything on internet, however, I have formed the habit to not expect anything from this site in the morning. The rest of the time the performance is good.

Interesting how the number of individuals who have responded exceeds the number of submissions to the poll.

This morning, posting time was infinite.

Nowadays, once I've hit "Post Quick Reply", it takes a long time until I finally give up and hit the back button; once I check to see if my post went "live" it always has posted.

In the olden days (3+ months ago), posts were almost immediate (~1 second).

I do wonder whether the slowness corresponds with the server taking a backup or some kind of maintenance - if it's already at breaking point then this kind of additional load would cause the issues we're experiencing

Well, someone seems to have done something to improve things since yesterday AM. This morning I can access the site quickly and posting seems to be much faster.

Thanks to whom ever!

Yes, forum times were great until about 30 minutes after Mr. B's last post. Then the whole forum went downhill most of the day.

way too long, I'm finding this is the slowest site out of several I am using. Isn't there a compact and repair tool they can run? ;-)

Where's the about three bloody days option?

I can honestly say I have never known this site so slow. It's not even worth trying during the day (in the UK).

Normally I have to wait utill after about Noon, CST, USA before I can get in. Today, it was nearly 3 hrs. later than that.

I didn't try this morning but this afternoon a dead loss, I notice that there are no new posts from 2.52pm to 5.31pm BST , and its still slow.

It was pretty hideous this morning (the times Brian indicated and before). This really needs to be fixed.

12:30 UTC (13:30 NL)

After B*tching much about the perfomance at this moment its normaly pretty bad... While right now it seems to be flying along quite nicely

I would just like to express my thanks to whom ever was responsible for doing whatever was done to so dramatically imporve the response time for the forums. I could hardly believe my eyes when I first attempted to log in this morning.

It is so much better this AM. Thanks, again.

This is excellent speed - have to gauge response time with a stop watch rather then a calendar.
