image file format properties

I was just wondering what the properties of these file types are, what they would be used for, and the size comparison. (this is from paste special in powerpoint)

ppPasteBitmap
ppPasteEnhancedMetafile
ppPasteMetafilePicture
ppPasteGIF
ppPasteJPG
ppPastePNG
ppPasteText
ppPasteHTML
ppPasteRTF
ppPasteOLEObject
ppPasteShape

Some of these are not applicable, but I was just wondering what that properties are. I would like to know what information each of these carry so I can correctly determine what would be the best for me to use. (File Size is an issue, maybe the best would be JPG but the quality is poor so maybe GIF is second best but that doesnt necessarily carry an image if you are copying a table it will paste it as text... etc)
