I have a .txt file and I want to import it into MS Access, but when I run through the import wizzard, The data looks like a bunch of boxes and symbols. I'll attach a sample of it...see if you can import it and you'll see what I mean. Strangely enough excel understands the data...am I missing something in Access that would allow it to understand the data in my file...what can I do?

Thanks,
Gary

Yep this is what I get withthe real file...for some reason the one I posted doesn't have that problem. It must be when I cut the data down to one record that it imports correctly...Here's the actual file...

I see what you mean. It wouldn't let me import directly into Access. When I opened it in Excel, I noticed a few things. First this is a semicolon delimited file. Second, there is a semi-colon missing in the header line between FMS01 and FMS02. So here's what I did:

Opened the file in notepad and inserted the ; between FMS01 and FMS02. Then I opened the data in Excel. Realizing that it put all of the data into Column A, I selected Column A and did Data-Text to Columns. Choosing Delimited Semicolon put the data into appropriate columns and rows.

This file is fully importable into Access.
