Well if Paul comes along and admits that he made a typo too and was in fact referring to "freethinkers" and that you somehow telepathically picked up on his original intent for the term but continued to spell it wrong anyway, then maybe your excuse will have some kind of merit.

Nah, I think I'll just use Occam's razor (a term you as a philosopher should be comfortable with) and conclude that you're full of crap.

I know that the vast majority of Muslims are peaceful, just as the vast majority of Christians are. There will always be a few extremists practicing any religion that will serve to give it a bad name for everyone else.
