Its Friday again so :Homework for an 18 ish year old.

I have answered the question as asked.

Please tell me what I have said in this reply to you that is wrong.

Certainly

I have answered the question as asked.

However I am now tired of this.
I noticed that you also started a sentence with the conjunction "but" , perhaps I'm the one out of date on the rules and logic of grammar, also I notice the use of lots of short sentences, it is fairly common with some posters. Is a full stop the only form of punctuation taught these days?

Brian you are most likely correct.

I did hit the post button instead of the preview button.

My completed reply is now finished.

I feel the same as RainLover but chose not to get too involved because it would take up too much time & effort doing so.

My problem with these types of questions is that I analyse them too much, how it's worded etc making them more difficult to work out when it could have been easier if the question was worded in away to prevent being mislead.

Even my wife who is better educated than me first agreed with RainLovers answer based on the facts given in the question.

We are not saying that the calculations are wrong as we now understand what the correct answer is after it was explained properly.

Educated people don't necessarily think logically.

Please tell me what is the point of the "But" if it is not to link the last sentence to a previous one.

It was your original reply that got me interested in this post because I could not see how you could be incorrect.

I thought the reply you received to be odd.

My searches with other people like you did with your wife gave the same result.

You did do the right thing by not getting involved because these people will not admit that they made a mistake.

It is a strange thing about Forums in general, not just AWF is that people will not admit they are wrong.

I would go so far as to say that Brian will not answer my post to him without beating around the bush.

Thank you for posting your opinion.

I answered your last question to me very concisely post 42, how about you answering what the "But" was for as I asked.

.

So it's my fault for all the stress caused :D

Sometimes it's best to move on. It's a lot harder once you have fallen in the trap through so I understand your frustration.

Forums are fantastic tools to get information from & meet people etc
but don't take things too seriously if you can help it.

Your reply is a joke and not your normal standard. You are better than that.

Your question about "but" is an essential part of the question. I believe I did post a few possible meanings. Essentially what it does is to say "In spite of", "Contrary to". Or in simple terms, forget the test.

It would be interesting to see a proper answer from the OP.

I assume you are putting your tail between your legs and running away from my post.

Wise words. Thanks.

There is no need to be rude. I have answered all your questions despite the lack of question marks, you just did not like the answer.

So "but" means "in spite of" , fine I can run with that, but now ask yourself inspire of what? The only answer can be the test result.

Still as you have pointed out there are posters who will never admit to having got it wrong so I'm not expecting you to.

Bye

Brian

Rain, you're starting to sound like someone else on this forum who's stubborn about grammar. Let it go. Seriously. The world has much more important problems than how a question is worded. As Brian pointed out, everyone understood what was meant.

Everyone did not understand.

See post #2.

If you don't like what I have to say, why do you keep reading.

You can even unsubscribe to this thread.

No one as yet has been willing to challenge me based upon the question as asked.

They all rely on, I don't care what the question is, I will change it so that I can join the mob.

But we don't know who "they" is referring to. It's left up to our own devices. Obviously, most members here tend to read it as though "they" is the one person who tested positive as described in the previous line. You seem to be reading it differently. Who cares? He already came back and said what he meant. It wasn't a question change, just a clarification.

As no one is prepared to read Post #1 in isolation. That is without adding their own spin, we are going to be in disagreement.

Also as the Author does not want to comment.

I would therefore suggest that this thread be closed as opposed to marked solved.
