Ive started a new thread after GinaWhipp kindly helped on the last one
I have now been reading forums and trying things for three hours and getting nowhere. I have decided separate logins was a bit clunky.
I have the "open with form" as a LogIn - Admin and different areas to log in with password and Admin views all and different areas can view and add/edit only their own. I'm not really sure now that my structure is right.
Table for Locations has [ID], [depot], [passcode] and a query with [ID] and [depot]. So my start up form has combo box with [depot] as source an unbound text box for password input and a enter button. Any help with code for the On Click would be greatly appreciated.
Oh and also at the moment my combo box edits the table, maybe I should change it to a value list (or not)

Man life was so simple when I showed the first working version and then someone suggested that it would be much better if the users couldn't view the other users input. Ive spent more time on this since then than it took in the first place:(

:D We have to stop running into each other like this...

I thought that might become a problem... Do you have a table storing the Users names and their passwords? This table should also link to tblLocations AND have a field that determines if they are an Admin or not.

I have only 3 tables tbl_incident, tbl_incrpt_notes, tbl_location. I have a query which has only ID and depot. I have to get back to my real job right now but I'll have another try on the weekend. If you could kindly have a look and as I say I not sure if I have the right structure for what Im trying to do
Thanks

Okay, if you are going to want the Users to log on and see just their information then you are going to need a few more tables. I have attached a sample of what I am talking about...

In regards to your database...

1. You should use tables for the Row Sources so just the tables have to be maintained. That way you need to add/remove a person (or item) it just need to be done via the table (and automatically update all Combo Boxes) and not the form.

2. What do you do if more then one Incident is attached to the smae person and/or the same vehicle?

3. I would add a way to search by person, incident and vehicle. That way no scrolling thru record to find something.

Thanks for your reply I'm wondering does this give all users the same view (that is all user data) rather than restricting them to only the entries they have made. I need some fresh air.
On another subject I have read your tips page and in particular naming conventions. The obvious is more so when you see it.
I shalt forgo the use of underscores in my fieldnames/objectnames
Thanks again for your assistance

The sample I provided with a little tweaking can give everyone their own view.

Oops, forgot... THANKS for the underscore elimination! :D
