There is an example attached in the following thread that allows you to set up user groups as well as specific log in mames and passwords to gain entry to the database, that's providing you want to have a go at creating your own security. It's not the safest of options probably your best bet would be to use the built in Access security although it is not the easiset to get to grips with but by far better in terms of securing your db. There are many posts on this topic.

Here is the link to the thread with the download anyway incase you are interested in having a look.

wow thats way to complex for me
i only want a simple one
liek with 1 or 2 users
with madeup names

I find that restricting users depending on what user has loged into windows is useful because the user is not wasting time going through all these security checks. This is only recommended if you know your users have limited knowlegde of Access

This however is not as secure as if you had done it like "Hayley Baxter" has suggested. for instance a restricted user who may change one table but not any others can just press the shift key to enter the entire database and they will get around the password form by changing the password form into design view and then closing it. you are then at their mercy.

I like the look of that demo, that is exactly what I needed.

Just one question, how can the different levels control what they see and don't see? Is this possible? So for example, one form is writeable for an administrator, Read only for a Ueer and a no go for Guests????

Any help much appreciated.
