Mid-Atlantic Snow Storm

We are on target for the largest snow storm in history.
They’re calling for 31 inches (.78 meters)

So far, as I look out my window, we're at 24" already. So I'm designing my submarine, and munching some home made chicken soup.
 
According to our news it's the East Coast of America that's affected, not the mid Atlantic. Are you out at sea?:confused:
 
Perhaps you can sell some to VANOC so there will be some at Cypress for the games :)

Probably:D. On this side of the ocean mid-atlantic means middle of the atlantic. For someone who has issues with spelling don't be surprised if people miss the significance of a capital letter.

It's a group of States in the middle part of the United States.

The Mid-Atlantic states, also called middle Atlantic states or simply the mid Atlantic, form a region of the United States generally located between New England and the South. Its exact definition differs upon source, but the region often includes Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Washington D.C., and sometimes Virginia and West Virginia.
The Mid-Atlantic has played an important role in the development of American culture, commerce, trade, and industry, yet it is one of the least self-conscious of American regions.[4] It has been called "the typically American" region by Frederick Jackson Turner. Religious pluralism and ethnic diversity have been important elements of Mid-Atlantic society from its settlement by Dutch, Swedes, English Catholics, and Quakers through to the period of English rule, and beyond. After the American Revolution, the Mid-Atlantic region hosted each of the historic capitals of the United States, including the current federal capital, Washington D.C.

Although I think most Americans would most likely include New Jersey, and New York, in the North East.

It’ll be interesting to hear from some other Americans about that.

Northern Virginia is now considered to be a major part of the Mid-Atlantic because so much of the support for the Federal Government, as well as the vast majority of Virginia’s population, is in Northern Virginia.

Northern Virginia has become the most educated portion of the United States and 5 of our counties are in the top ten wealthiest per capita, with 1st, 2nd, and 4th all Virginian. This has changed the culture of Northern Virginia to be more cosmopolitan and much less Southern as it was historically considered to be.

So we refer to ourselves as the Mid-Atlantic in the large and Northern Virginia in the specific. Northern (a region hence, spelled with a capital) Virginia has a government of counties, as apposed to towns, there are towns, but most of the governmental functions are county.

The funny thing is that we still say I am from Woodbridge or Dale City, or Herndon, or something like that but most of these “cities” are really not cities, meaning they are unincorporated.

Anyway the Mid-Atlantic is getting pounded. It’s been snowing for 28 hours now.

That would be about 2 shovels full. I have about 400 on my driveway.
 
We'll see if I survive this shoveling opperation, my heart is not what it once was.
 
I thought all North Americans had snow blowers, or don't they need them with all the hot air they spout. ;):D

A kid came by with a blower. 50 bucks and Adios.

I did help with my hot air though.
 
Sorry, guys. I think your problem is because the New Orleans Saints won the Super Bowl. Even the fact that they got into the game caused Hell to freeze over and some of that cold spilled out into the Mid-Atlantic states. You have to be a long-suffering Saints fan to understand and appreciate that fully.

By the way, we had reports of strange unidentified flying objects in the last couple of weeks but they have now been identified. No longer U.F.O.s, they are P.F.O.s - Porcine Flying Objects.
