Hi,

I am currently using a access 2007 database. When multiple users are accessing the file and trying to make changes to different records in the database, the below error message is coming.

"Microsoft access cant save design changes or save to a new database object because another user has open the file. To save your design changes or to save to a new object you must have exclusive access to the file."

In the setting of my database
The Default Open Mode=Shared
Default Record Locking =Edited record.

Could you please let me know what needs to be done for multiple user to make changes to different records at the same time.

Thanks in advance for any help.

No the database is not split

I have split the database still the same error is coming...please help.

I suspect there is some confusion here between changing records and changing "database objects". If you have split forms, and a user readjusts the relative size of the datasheet part, then that is a "design change", and with an unsplit shared db you can get a conflict like the one you experience.

So is there a way that I can avoid this message being shown, even after splitting the database?

The message has nothing to do with records, but with multiple users using the same interface. If each user uses own copy of the front end, then I am sure the problem will disappear.

Thanks a lot for the help...I sent the frontend file to all users using (after splitting the database). The errror is not coming.

but the error message indicates that users are changing the design of data objects.

this is not good. if your users can change the design of your dbs, how can you manage the functionality in it?
