Hello All, New Access user but have exper with sql and crystal reporting-mostly all on the reporting/querying side of things.
Working on my first database, that multiple users will input data for and i will devel/administer, and while looking for help on something else ran across info that i HAVE to create a split database frontend and backend. Having a hard time fully understanding this, hoping someone has some time for advice/info anything to steer me in right direction.

Details:
Access2013, .accmb saved on network server (ms server 2008R2), users desktops running windows 7. database purpose(simply stated)client db for contacts and follow up.(who/how/what/when). Final db due 10/1/14

On network server,i have created a test.accmb that right now just has tables (which i'm still finalizing) no reports/query/forms. i can make this the backend, right?
so i then need to create a testusers.accmb db with forms and reports (users i don't think will be using querys, but backend data will all come from the forms) that links to the test.accmb and this can be my frontend? do i create it on the same network drive or do i have to go to everyones desktop and create one on there local c drive? (seems wrong to me that i'd have to create all this over and over on individual pc's i)
What end do i set the users individual security? Can i have it default to there network id? I don't want users to chnge the structure of a table but they will be adding data to some (not all) of them-is there special settings with multiple users other than the requirements set up in the table?

i think i'm confusing myself a little, mostly because i wasnt expecting this and now makes my deadline seem less attainable so feeling a bit flustered at the moment :(

I know i'm asking alot & hope i provided enough, i really would appreciate any words of advice, links etc.

wow i'm soory i put the wrong ext in it's.accdb in all spots below

You do not have to recreate the front end on each person's computer. Typically you would create it on yours, linking to the tables in the back end. Use a UNC path rather than a mapped drive to link, unless you're absolutely sure everybody has the same mapped drive. Then you simply distribute the front end file to each user. There are numerous ways of distributing updates as well.
