I've read many articles on how to turn a single long (page spanning) column of data into "snaking columns" or "newspaper-style columns," but all of the results are only available in Print or Print Preview. I am looking for a way to have the correct, multi-column, result visible in Report View on the screen. The reports I am formatting will not be printed onto paper; they will be seen only on screen. The data will vary depending on the source table, some have records that are about 200 records long, and others are only 50 or so. The number of columns across the page will need to be dynamic depending the total number of records the report pulls in.

Ideas?

Thanks in advance.

if the report is not interactive, have you consider outputting to a temporary pdf file and then opening that?

Print Preview is a perfectly valid method of displaying a report on the screen, as it triggers many of the 'additional' Events. Why can't you use it?

It is going to be a static resource that opens with the database in a full screen view. It has information on it used as reference while navigating through other forms that are set as Pop Up forms. The report would stay in the background at all times in order to be used as a quick reference.

I'm not sure you CAN do it in Preview mode, since Columns is inherently a Printer characteristic in Access.

Can you mock it up with a form that stays up in the background maybe, instead of a report??
