Office 2007 and 2010 don't play well together

Against Microsoft advice I installed Office 2007 and 2010 on the same machine.
Keeping switching between them to a minimum it worked well, for a while.

Last week something got corrupted, couldn't use Outlook anymore,
attempts to repair failed and the Office installer crashed.

So I uninstalled both and re-installed 2010.
I still need to use 2007 and may be even 2003 to check compatibility. I'm considering
installing Oracle VirtualBox and use it to virtualize Windows XP with Office 2007.

Does anyone have any experience with that? I would love to hear your comments.

Thanks

Catalina

I use VirtualBox on a Win 7 laptop to run a linux based OS and it works pretty well. I would imagine it would work fine for your needs too.

I have Office 2007 and Office 2010 on one PC and Office 2003, Office 2007, Office 2010 on another PC. And, yes, besides the loading, they all play nice together. The only issue is you can only have one version of Outlook installed or they all object. So, I use Outlook 2010 which plays nice with Office 2010 and the others play with Windows Live Mail... (Kind of funny, the *kids* (that would be Office) made that choice on their own!)

How about if I just install Access 2007 instead of the whole 2007 suite.
I guess that should work with Office 2010. Besides Access, I really have no real use for the rest of Office 2007.

What do you think?

Yep, I got a machine like that... Though the Access 2007 still plays with Windows Live Mail, no Outlook on that machine. In theory, it should find any MAPI compliant software if you are using DoCmd.SendObject but I have not tried it using Outlook 2010.

Thanks, I'll give that a shot (After making a System Restore Point).
