So one has to wonder what the point of it all is.

Leave it to Colin and Rich to turn the Oscars, a night of harmless fun, into a diatribe on world hunger. Is there anything to do over there other than piss, moan, and rant about the bloody americans?

er - excuse me, but Skea decided hunger in Africa was a product of war, not drought. I was merely pointing out that the BBC must have it wrong when they cite drought as the cause.

We even have TV programmes dedicated to it. Any comic / satirist always mentions Americans. As you say, harmless fun. . . . . .;)

It seems as though it's cool to bash Americans in the UK. Kind of like it's cool for us the bash Republicans or Democrats in the US...

Well, Col, the point is to keep the Americans (aka sheep) believing that celebrity = success, and so they continue the hype. Granted, not very many people watch the show, but some still do, and they will breed and have more little sheep, etc, etc, which perpetuates the wrong values, and hopefully, eventually, there will be a complete population of sheep, which will make it that much easier for the government to control us. Just one of the ways. That's all I can guess. Because even if not many people watch it, there is still the same amount of hype and media coverage every year. Kind of makes you wonder......

Feel free to bash back Ken. We voted in Bliar who's as big a liability as Bush. That puts us on a par with you lot for voting in Boy George. ;) Thank heavens the pair of them are working to make the world a safer place. I dread to think what would happen if they became belligerent.
