I have a parent and sub form in dataset view.

What I would like to do is prepopulate the subform with data from the parent form when I create a new item of data..

i.e.
When I click the "+" button Field1 on my subform is populated by Field1 on the parent.

I have tried beforeupdate on both the subform properties and the subform.Field1 properties.

Parent data have no business in the child record, apart from the foreign key.

Make some screen shots to explain what you want

OK
prepro1 shows the opening state of the form.

preprp2 show what I would like to happen when I press "+"
ie. Items is prepopulated and I have tabbed to Personnel

If Items is your foreign key, then I would have thought this would populate itself when you enter information in the personnel or date allocated fields
