Problems with selecting data from one form and inserting into sub-form

Hi all

I need help

I am creating a training database for cambs scouts. The main records form has the persons details (name etc) called Main trainind records. and a subform as a datasheet (called leader training undertaken), which holds the courses the person has undertaken (obviously). My problem is that I would like to make a "pop up" form which holds the current courses for the year, the user selects one from the list, and the selection is inserted into the "training undertaken subform" and I'm completly lost.

Many thanks for your reply,
Whilst you are entirely correct, it does pose me problems namely;
1/ inserting more than on field into the table (matching field to field)
2/ when i search the data later for reports etc, the resultant displayed is the ID number or i get a data tyep error, if it works at all.

i would really appreciate help with this, i am a relative newbie.
