The DB is FE/BE both on the server. Part of our site is connected to the server by a radio link. The link can often timeout, sometimes for just a few tenths of a second. When this happens clients using the DB on the remote site will often experience usually fatal problems, ie Disk or Network Error which always means a restart This can corrupt the LDB as well and stop other people logging on. Any ideas on settings or tricks to stop this happening?

This is technically not an Access problem but rather is a device-driver (network device) problem. You need someone who is intimately familiar with your type of network device. I have not worked with radio links so can only give suggested lines of remedy.

Your problem is that the virtual network link drops too soon for your given physical carrier method. A couple of contributors to this are the keepalive timer interval and a reconnect retry limit. What you want to happen is that you strike a balance between security and convenience. Security, because while that link is "deciding what to do" it can be usurped by an intruder. Convenience, because you don't want to drop your network link so often. That is why you have all the other bad side-effects you mentioned.

If you are not familiar with the Windows Device manager, changing these settings can be difficult and even dangerous. If you have a site network manager, consult with that person to determine the correct settings for your network device.
