I currently use Windows 7, and office 2010 and I am building an access database system. Maybe a few hundred thousand records. I plan to divide the database between front and backend, for multiple user purposes.

Questions: Will I be able to set the max number of users?
Also, Do you recommend a preferable frontend other than Access?
Also, I may want to make a particular procedure as a class module, and I have read that this might take a separate program like VB, or other?

Thanks in advance
Best regards

  1. Yes
  2. Based on what requirements?
  3. I suspect you are telling half the story, because what you wrote makes little sense. In Access you can make classes too.

I think you should outline your proposed application/database with some context that readers can understand. What you asked doesn't make a lot of sense -- lacks context. Many people would say Access makes a good front end and can be used with various back ends.

What is the subject of your proposed application? What sort of entities? Any legal restrictions on data or security - personal health info...
We need at least the 30,000 feet version to be more focused in our responses.

Thanks, let me study more in order to clarify my questions.

but I think

1. max users - only with code
2. access is fine
3. access has all the vb you need for class modules

if you are trying to write dlls to interface with access, then you need something else.
