Hi, I've used Access for a while but database security is causing me some trouble.
Basically I've used the user-level security wizard to lock down objects in my database.
I then added new groups, the names of which aren't important but I will refer to as group A, B, C and D.
I then added one user to the admins group (call him Scott) - giving 2 admin users, "admin" and "scott", and then 1 user per group A, B, C, D (5 users in total)
I used "Tools | User and Group permissions" to assign rights to the groups, as I would add users to roles in SQL Server or Oracle.
So to check I could log in as "Scott" with admin privileges, I closed the database and re-opened it. I got a login prompt alright, but when I typed in "scott" and the password, Access refused me.
I logged in as "admin" with the admin password and that worked OK.
Why is the other admin user (Scott) being denied login? The password's right, the groups I've assigned him to are right, the privileges on tables are right... what have I missed?
The only thing I have not used is the "Tools | Workgroup administrator" function as I'm not sure whether I need to use it.
Can anyone give me an idiots guide to user & group security with access? Seriously, it's annoying now.
I am using Access 2003 SP3.
Thanks in advance.
