US President Theodore Roosevelt's ideas on Immigrants and being an AMERICAN in 1907.

'In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American... There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag.... We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language... and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people.'

what's your point mike? :p

my point is that america is jumping on the poor bandwagon as our money heads out of the country

This sounds like it should be in politics

Are you saying that you got the Delorean up to 88 M/H?

The Constitution also says that only white land owning men are allowed to vote. I suppose that was good in it's original form as well?

This is why I call the Republican/Conservative party the Regressive Party, should change the animal from an Elephant to a T-Rex (rawr).

That speech has been doing the rounds in Australia. I thought it was as relevant today as back in 1907.

Its not difficult to see why the US is in so many wars with this US and them attitude.

I agree with the attitude if people intend to settle in a new country then their loyalty etc should be to that country and that country alone.

Can we have some examples of where this loyalty should be applied, ie I can't think of too many issues were blind faith to a flag over someone elses is an issue.

This coming from a guy who's forefathers slaughtered the indigenous population and forcibly removed them from their land.

Anyway maybe the USA should kick the Irish and Italian Americans out first.

This is a very complicated issue.

And as usual, if you are able to follow the money, you will see the force behind the problem.

Try watching the movie "Hamburger Nation"

This is coming from the guy who lectures on racism:rolleyes:

Hey Rich I found a picture of you today

How did you manage to take the pic without the mirror showing?

Certainly for grammatical errors. This part -

doesn't make sense.

Also, "Colin" should have a capital "C".

Don't descend to the pedantic level of some posters here. It's pretty obvious there was a typo rendering "than" as "that".

But the o.p. claims to be perfect;)
