Trump Administration Predictions (3 Viewers)

Now this I am glad for. Many if not most universities have become breeding grounds for the stupidest kind of nonsense imaginable and are thus turning out people who ... well, I think we've all met them, I don't need to go into it. They are grinding out sausage all of one kind and destroying the common sense the country used to have.

In a worst case scenario (I'm not saying this is what I prefer, I'm just saying if this was the worst case that did occur), our American universities lose some of their prestige (which at LEAST half the country already viewed them in this lower manner, or at least viewed their results) - but we turn young people back to earning technical degrees and working, rather than studying gibberish that has nothing to do with real life - that'll be a boon IMO
But cutting spending on science as punitive measures is, as usual with Trump, replete with unintended consequences. One of the main strengths of or American experience is innovation and the development of cutting edge tech. Do you really think that the Trump supporting rednecks in east Texas are going to lead us into a better, greater future. They don't even work as hard as they used to, the Mexicans are doing all that.

Conservative Spin is based on breading contempt for liberals, liberal propaganda makes people have contempt for them, and meanwhile back the the ranch the rest of the world is getting ahead of us on all the things that were actually Great about America.

There are economic reports out there that indicate that Trumps war on science is going to cause a major deterrent to out long term GDP growth. That means our children will not be having this conversation.

if we move to a Universal Health Care we will gain efficiencies and reduce the burden of being poor .
This is one of those things that sounds good on paper but simply cannot be implemented without putting insurance companies out of business so it isn't something that can happen overnight. Changes to Medicare are moving in this direction but the steps are jerky. This is what the "advantage" plans are intended to do. They leave the fee collection in the hands of the government but for people who qualify for the low-income advantage plans, the claim processing part is off-loaded to the participating insurance carriers. My brother (disabled Vet) qualifies for an "advantage" plan but the carrier (Humana I think) is doing a very poor job of managing the plan. In theory, Art has no copay and yet they keep dinging him for copays. Of course, once you're in their clutches, you have no way out until the next year's enrolment period.

Theory and practice are very different. It's like the old adage "those who can - do, those who can't - teach". The government is no good at managing details because it's not their money. They don't have to make a profit. That's why FEDEX shines and USPS always loses money They do not have the kind of mindset even ordinary employees have. They simply don't care. I blame this in large part on the unionization of the federal workforce. If you get raises every year and promoted every x years and you can't do better or worse than anybody else, you have no inclination to strive for excellence. If you can change that mindset, I would get on board with the program.

We don't need the government to be paying for studying the sex lives of the three toed frog. There is nothing in the Constitution that says the government should finance any scientific endeavors let alone stupid studies. We, the people get nothing from all this money we throw at "science". All the funding we do for drug research results in the US paying the highest drug cost of any country in the entire world. Thanks for that Congress. Why don't we at least get the friends and family rates?

Really? USPS is required to service all addresses, not just the high paying ones, at a tenth of the cost that UPS could deliver mail. Even you should know that.
I've sent FexEx's to some pretty podunk places. They don't go there overnight but they get there. And I get it but the USPS doesn't have to actually make a profit. It simply has to work as efficiently as a for profit business would work. Coming even close to breaking even would be an excellent performance.

Well I think we were going to hell in a handbasket long before fox News became popular

I don't have contempt for liberals much anymore since I read the book by Donald Miller, blue like jazz

Because, that would have been your first comment if the civil case had no merit.
The civil case has no merit.
You may not think what 60 Minutes did constituted a campaign violation
I don't and think anyone who does is stupid.
you do seem to think that what Fox did does constitute a campaign finance violation
Again I don't think it's a violation, but I do think fox addles your brain.
I presented the article to hopefully show you that all shows edit interviews in the hopes that would get through. Mission not accomplished.

Thales thinks that judges or AG's are the only people who get to file lawsuits. You didn't correct him though, did you?
I don't recall him saying that. I do seem to recall you said it and I thought I corrected you.

At the moment, the case is civil, not criminal but that could change.
How so? Could you enlighten us on what possible statute it violated. Please shepardize it so we know we're current. Thanks.
Also scuttlebutt is the DOJ is looking at criminal charges.
Is that what Q is saying?

If you cheered when they arrested the bad guys, your feigned sorrow for this poor guy would carry more weight because we might believe your "feelings" were honest. You can't actually be "sorry" about both the gangbangers and the minor criminals.

Don't talk to me like I'm stupid.

I WARNED you about giving me straight lines. I'll be a gentleman for once and merely point out that you are playing with fire by opening the door that widely. But THIS time I'll let it slide. Don't make that mistake again.

@moke123 and all other participants, I am wearing my moderator hat for a moment.

Please be careful about your use of directed or carefully camouflaged insults. I say this respectfully because I know this is a divisive topic to EVERYONE and tempers can flair up easily.

To everyone in this thread: Please remember that civility is already in the published site rules, but that civility will be even MORE important as the new "internet safety" laws kick in. If someone's lack of civility leads to Jon taking a hefty fine, this forum is going to be like burnt toast - tossed in the trash for being unpalatable.

Moke123, you are NOT solely responsible for the uncivil attitude shown here but I had to find a place to interject some level of moderation. Based on precedent, our alternatives are for everyone to dial it down a notch or to close the thread. Jon hates closing things down permanently but we have paused threads before. Reign it in, people.

So a letter should cost $5 to $10?

If Fed X is so efficient why can't they deliver mail for 73 cents? If they are so efficient, why did Amazon spend $4 billion to start their own service, and why do they use USPS?

Beliefs just don't really hold up against facts, do they?

I never thought you did. And, low and behold, you even publicly question some of the MAGA actions.

That was directed at Pat.

Why, indeed! Perhaps we bother to engage you to keep you from feeling ignored, mostly out of charity and also we want to be around for the train wreck when you stumble over your own words.
I know right? Like Trump is an idiot and has engaged us in a Trade war that the American people are paying for. Like Trump is a fascist wanna be dictator that has done more to undermine freedom than any President in history.

Those my words in plain English, In the end, when he has proven this to even his staunchest supporters, maybe the likes of you will admit it.

One can only hope.

Doc, you hear a different sound coming from one bunch than you do the other, even when the other is the worst offender.
