Unrecognised File Format

If you leave it as an mdb, that won't be a problem. It will not let you add new features to an mdb.

I did what you said and it opens. However it seems to run slower? Even though no data is in it yet? Forms take longer to open.

What future problems can be envisaged by using a .mdb?
 
I dunno about the speed. But as for future problems, I don't see any. Your application will open on more versions of Access, and you always have the option to 'upgrade' if you want. Of course you loose some of the newer features, but I don't think that's so terrible.
