Virtual Reality Headsets - worth the money?

Apparently, if you drop a frozen pea off the top of the Empire Estate building it will go through your head like a bullet. 🤣
Urban legend. As an ex-New Yorker I remember it was something like a roll of pennies being the minimum weight that could cause death.
I think that's from a science class in high school.

Yeah, I know. But it's always a good one to roll out. That poor pea will hit terminal velocity pretty quickly. What about if it was in a vacuum. Pass through you like a photon?

i'm sure it would still hurt.

Care to say what drone you have please?

It's the DJI Mini 4 Pro.

I think the most impressive feature is the Omni-Directional anti-collision system.
It has cameras and sensors in every direction. If you get too close to something you get a beep and an indicator of where the object is on the screen. You can fly it straight at yourself and it will stop and hover a few feet away and refuse to go any further. You can also set it to take its own evasive action like going over or around an object.

My brother in law bought the DJI mini 3 which doesn't have that feature and he has crashed 3 times already. I was flying mine in my backyard and wandered deep into the woods. I was following a little stream back there and got a little lost. I couldn't see the drone and had no idea where I was. Using the sensors, the main camera, and a picture in picture with the back and side cameras I was able to find my way out safely.
I was sweating that one.

Here's a guy using a different model with the system.

I believe its the screen. The RC model you have to connect it to your phone and use the phones screen and the other has the screen built in.
I have the RC2 with the built in screen which is a little more $ but worth it IMO. I think the RC2 also has better antennas.

Shopping GMan?

Just looking atm, and thinking what I would/could do with it.
Plus here in the UK, we have to get a licence to use one.

The birds around her, pick up whatever is in them and drop it on the floor. :)

Hovered over the house at 400 feet and recorded the sunset. Condensed the 3 minutes down to 21 seconds.

Good article.

I won the "Best Father of a Girlfriend" award this Xmas. Gave the daughters Boyfriend a quest 3 for Christmas.

I saw this article and it reminded me that Jon is using virtual reality as an exercise medium!

I agree with the article that it has reached a tipping point. But I have not tried it for work related stuff.

Over the Christmas period, I bought Thrill of the Fight 2 preview. TOTF1 was hugely popular, where you fight against the AI. It was amazing exercise and great fun. Many years later, they now have TOTF2 preview. It is raw, but still very playable. The big difference is that you can now fight online opponents instead of AI. This makes it a gamechanger. Everybody has their own style of boxing and it is very challenging. My heart rate goes up to 165bpm, which means I am getting a HIIT style workout.

Looks like fun without the bruising. Wonder if there will be a mixed reality version so you can fight in your living room. 🤕

Christmas is a tough time in my golf+ game. There are so many newbies that got a quest for x-mas. They suck at it and jump right into the higher level play. Luckily I have 30+ friends I regularly play with so we set up private games that only friends can join.

Recently we played with a guy who's wife was in labor with their 3rd kid. He brought his quest to the hospital and we played 2 rounds while he was waiting. We're waiting to play him again to see what they had.

It was only about £6 because it is a preview. They already have a mixed reality mode, so I believe.

See here: Mixed Reality Mode

Hah, I hope they had a private room when he was playing in the hospital.

The MR looks wicked cool.
All the dogs make me nervous. I once was hitting a tee shot and hit my Yellow Lab so hard it took her off her feet.

Yeah, I thought it looked a bit dodgy with the dogs. But then again, he is in mixed reality mode so at least he can see them. But not ideal.

Just an update. I am burning large amounts of calories again using Thrill of the Fight 2, which I am currently addicted to. I've burned 728 calories today so far over 93 minutes of boxing. And I am about to have another go!

Hope your kicking some ass.

My golf buddy who broke his back last September didn't expect to be able to play again until summer. He started playing again a few days ago and his PT fully encouraged him doing so. He sucks at it but it's great having him back.
