The #1 failure for updating to Windows 10 is having an external Hard drive (or thumb drive) plugged in during the update - from what I have read on many pages.
I updated my old HP Envy 3D to Windows 10.
By, golly.... it is running cooler and more efficiently than ever.
This Pentium i7 (first generation) 17" monitor has a 1080i with a super graphics 3D card, 2 SCADA drives, 16 G RAM. It runs so hot the extra large battery lasted 11 minutes - would burn skin through a pair of jeans (literally burn).
After Windows 10 (flawless) it is dynamic - the kid runs the highest end video gaming, it is cooler... He gave up his i7(3rd Gen) 8GB RAM HP with lesser graphics card and lesser video monitor - because it runs so efficiently on games and live video.
Have to admit, it breathed new life into an old boat anchor of a PC.
