why is this place so republican?

Don't think I have EVER used or herad mathematics in the singular, except for here that is...

There is no singular of mathematics because mathematics isn't plural...

Mathematics is the singular subject of study of the use, methods, manipulation, torture, and total obfuscation of numbers. (It is possible that the "torture" part is experienced by the students and the obfuscation is performed by the professors.)

Wait till you get to Spanish where it really IS plural
But everything gets confusing there

OK, let's move on to code. I write code, I compile code. Procedures may contain many lines of code or only one but codes are lists of things like postal codes and area codes and department codes and gender codes:) They are not executable commands.

Does that include machine codes, i.e. the list of all executable commands for a given system?

No but it includes machine code:) if you are talking about writing a program.

Eric Sevareid, a CBS comentator many years ago was correct when he said, "the American electorate can handle only so much lunacy at either end of the scale, If the needle goes to far in either direction, it will swing back to the middle". We just witnessed an example of that.

I haven't heard of the first 4 letters thing before. So I did a quick Google and came up with: IQ, Mr, Mrs, MA, CEO, DIY, Dr., NW, MD, CFO, PA. It seems to vary quite a lot. Not sure if things like LOL are considered abbreviations or not, or come under some kind of alternative definition?

Edit: LOL of course is an acronym, not an abbreviation. And that also means IQ, CEO, MD etc comes under acronym too.
Isn't LOL an acronym? Like scuba (Self Contained Under-water Breathing Apparatus)
