Windows 7, 64-bit Access 2003 Problems

On a new computer I have installed Windows 7, 64-bit O/S and then installed Office 2003 to run MsAccess and Outlook.

Upon running our Access2003 .MDB and .MDE email application, and using the code to send smtp email to Outlook is not working and I get this error message "The expression On Open you entered as the event property setting produced the following error: Object or class does not support the set of events."

To see if I could fix this problem, I created a blank database and imported all of the items into the new database and still received the same error. (On our XP machines we never have any errors)

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

The Access Gnomes, of course, are not noted for the appropriateness or usefulness of their error messages! Anytime apps run fine on one machine and not on another, especially one that has just had Access installed, one the first things you have to think about are Missing References.

.. I suspect Windows 7 64bit no longer supports a 10 year old Access program. Just my 2¢.

Windows 8 does run with an MS-Access 2000 (Office 2000) installation, no problem.

Thank you for your suggestion.

All the references have been checked and show no errors.

I just purchased my Windows 7 O/S a week a go and to purchase Windows 8 O/S now seems silly.

I had a similar problem when if had to install access97 on my windows 7 with Microsoft 2010

I kept having trouble the whole time, I found out if you first install the older version and only then install the newer version of MS it is usually ok, and this helped me.

Have you stepped through the code on the MDB yet? What line is the error on?
