Cyberbullying VS Light-Hearted Prank

You tell me, in what conceivable way, were they lost for words after they stopped talking to the receptionist? In what way did they deviate from their plan when patched through.

Its hard to read inflection from a transcript.

We're not arguing malice here. We're arguing whether they knew their actions could be harmful and did not act accordingly.

Even if we accept that they knew their actions could potentially be harmful (embarrassing, divulging of private information, etc) , the harm would be to the duchess and her family. And again, if they broke the law by broadcasting that call, they should absolutely be held accountable for breaking that law.

So Brian you are stooping to the depths of bigitory by slandering Her Majesty and accusing the Royal Family (without evidence) of using their position to cause harm to a Nurse for just doing their job.

This is a Low act.

But this is OK. Jump back up on your high horse and critise others about things you know nothing about. Enjoy.

This post is a nonsense , in fact it is more than that it is a downright lie about what I posted.

Brian

From your status I see you are also retired which may colour your opinion a little.

I imagine there are a lot of people out there who are working to feed a family and keep a roof over their heads who have to put up with a hell of a lot more abuse than that nurse ever did.

How many nurses are physically assaulted, sworn at etc by Joe Public who has a few too many beers over the weekend?

Jumping when Lord or Lady snob rings is possibly the lesser of two evils in comparison to a blackeye.

Can't see what my being retired has to do with anything, but maybe it means that I am old enough and have experienced enough to know that mental and emotional stress are far more debilitating than mere physical pain.

Brian

Then you may have experienced, in the past, putting up with whatever was necessary in order to keep your job just so you could pay the bills.

Isn't more likely to be a case of "Jump for Lord and Lady Snob. Or we'll hire some other nurse who will"

Especially now when people are being made redundant all over the place.

We also seem to be in the position where some, who are working full time, still have to have their wages "topped up" by central government just to survive.

Nanscome
Now I really am confused as this post seems to be agreeing with the point I was making to begin with.

Brian

I was mainly disagreeing with it being about "Lord and Lady Snob".

To keep your job you may have to put up with abuse, both physical and verbal, from Joe Public. Not to mention colleagues and bosses.

Previously it may have been a lot easier to say "Stuff your job/ I'm going elsewhere", now a lot more people are probably having to bite their tongues.

And you did bring up "Lord and Lady snob" with the clout to cause trouble and who currently has a Grandmother who could in theory, though very much unlikely, have caused a lot of trouble?

If you weren't refering to the Queen and the Royal Family who were you refering to.

Be brave and tell the truth. Don't hide behind misleading words.

Well rain, nanscombe seemed to have no trouble understanding what I was getting at, namely that the hospital would be frequented by people in high places who would expect a certain type of deference from the staff.
I am glad that we have established that you did not quote me word for word, next time you try to be honest and not put words in people's mouths.

Brian

I believe that Brian was using just Lord and Lady Snob as a generic term.

I guess in Australia the nearest equivalent would be the level of service the likes of Rupert Murdoch, or in America Donald Trump, might expect.

If they say "Jump" you are merely expected to ask "How high?".

I thought it would have been obvious to all that Lord and Lady snob where fictitious people representing the snobbish type of people we have all met in life who think that we should all treat them with deference and jump to do there every bidding.

I don't think Prince William or Her Majesty fall into that category tho some of the sycophants that surround them might.

Yep. Just backing you up in my post above. :D

BTWjust because I am retired doesn't mean that I live in some sort of bubble, I have daughters and sons in law who work and know that life is harder now, but mainly in the way they are treated rather than that it was easy to just walk out of a good job in the past.

I did a copy paste. How could that not be quoting word for word.

Lord and Lady snob does not equate to Her Majesty (and family).

It would be like mentioning the generic "media tycoons" and leaping to the defence of Rupert Murdoch , even though he wasn't mentioned.

And do you see the words Her Majesty in there?

It's all very well hitting the quote button, but you should read what you are quoting .

Brian

Edit actually I think nanscombe is doing a better job of explaining things than I am , so I may as well bow out. :D

Brian

This is an International Forum.

If you want to say something using words that can be misconstrued then it is your fault for any misunderstanding on my part.

It takes some misconstrueing to change Lord and Lady snob into Her Majesty, in fact I think that would be considered slander to give her such a lowely title. :D

But I ok I take your point, it is going to make forum awkward for all those Americans who can't write without using their idioms.

Why didn't you just say
"What the hell of Lord and Lady snob got to do with anything"

Brian

Because the Royal Family are the only ones involved in this who have a Title.

From a non Pome speaking person it is a natural assumption.
