Has America Imploded?

Currently, it is the Democrat owned tech platforms, and this disenfranchises the Republicans.
Thats an overly broad assertion. While Dorsey identifies as a democrat, Zuckerberg does not.

In the 2016 elections, Facebook PAC spent $517,000 supporting federal candidates. In all, 56 percent went to Republicans and 44 percent went to Democrats. In the 2018 election cycle, Facebook PAC spent $278,000 supporting candidates for federal office, mostly on Republicans, records show.

Thats an overly broad assertion

It is accurate. And there is no coincidence that it is the Republicans who are repeatedly bringing them in to question them on political bias.

Zuckerberg did state while being questioned that the organisation is composed in aggregate off individuals who lean left.

Is it possible that the Facebook PAC expenditure is a gesture towards appeasing disgruntled Republicans from their anti-Republican stance? I did note that while being questioned by senators, the Republicans were grilling them, while the Democrats were taking a more supportive stance.

It is no secret that Silicon Valley is very Democrat leaning.

Being woke can come back to bite you. Look what happened to Ellen. They will end up turning on each other if this slide into permanent offence continues.

Dont know. Maybe thats what Zuck and trump discussed during their secret dinner.

I think Zuck is trying to be more neutral (relatively speaking) than Twitter, who are blazon. I believe Zuck views too much political bias could have an existential threat to the platform. But he is fighting his employees, who are like a group of piranhas being told to be vegans.

Twitter is releasing more information on why they banned trump.
“Plans for future armed protests have already begun proliferating on and off-Twitter, including a proposed secondary attack on the US Capitol and state capitol buildings on January 17, 2021,” Twitter’s announcement said, noting two recent Trump tweets it said were “likely to inspire others to replicate the violent acts that took place on January 6, 2021.”
Twitter bans Trump’s account, citing risk of further violence
Citing the potential for Trump’s words to incite others — even in the absence of clear references to violence — took Twitter’s enforcement actions to a restrictive new level, as commentators noted Friday night. But the fear that Trump’s social media postings were fueling violent action appears to be well founded by what researchers have detailed in their monitoring of far-right conversation online.

Yes, I saw what they said on their site and it is disgraceful. It is nothing but politics and the usual censorship by the left. Over 40,000 people were arrested before July last year in 89 cities with the BLM protests, yet Twitter does nothing to stop those events being arranged on their platform. Yet tens of thousands of criminal acts were taking place during those protests. Where was the Twitter censorship police then? Probably at the protests.

Were they saying go to the protests and "find a car to burn" or "go break the windows at the dollar store"?
For the most part most of the protests sprang up organically in reaction to local events. There were bad actors that did stuff but to paint everyone there as violent protestors is wrong. Same with the Capitol events. Pats daughter was there but I doubt she brought molotov cocktails with her.

We forget this only happened 3 days ago. There's a lot of info yet to be released. I'm not even sure it's a valid comparison.
Was this just a protest? Why do people bring flexcuffs to a protest? Sledge hammers and pipe bombs?

Now there's breaking news of another trump phone call, It never ends.

President Trump urged Georgia’s lead elections investigator to “find the fraud” in a lengthy December phone call, saying the official would be a “national hero,” according to an individual familiar with the call who spoke on the condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the conversation.

Yes, over 40,000 arrested bad actors by July. That is a lot. And many were not arrested due to the policy of the Democrat run cities.

Point me to where I painted everyone there as a violent protestor. You can't, because I didn't.

For the most part most of the protests sprang up organically in reaction to local events.
How can you say they sprang up organically when you had huge numbers of people coming in from other states? What about Portland and Seattle?

I'm not even sure it's a valid comparison.
You are right. The level of carnage from the BLM riots went on for months and months, costing over 2 billion dollars, way more death, looting, violence and injuries. To compare one with the other is turning a blind eye to the scale of one, while magnifying in your own mind the size of the other.

Was this just a protest? Why do people bring flexcuffs to a protest? Sledge hammers and pipe bombs?
Were the BLM events just a protest? Why did people bring flammable liquid, guns, bricks and various other weapons to the BLM protests? Why did they kill people? Why were over 40,000 arrested if they were just protests?

There were members of Congress in that hallway.
I didn't see any. But don't take that as support of the break in. She should not have been there. Did she deserve to die? Did the cop overreact? Everyone gets their panties in a twist over police shooting criminals. The entire BLM movement is based on a lie. Why is no one upset about this shooting? Hypocrisy.
I agree that we should not be allowed to go up to the face of someone with a different ethnicity and shout utterly offensive things in their face about their race.
I realize that Republicans are not a protected class but that is EXACTLY what Maxine Waters and several other prominent Democrats were telling their constitutions to do. Talk about hate speech. She was never even censured. She would have been had I been Speaker of the House instead of Paul Ryan. But then he was a Trump hater so he was OK with it.
So does the UK !
So does Canada. That doesn't make them right. It just makes them Marxists.
So you think that all of these women lied? Interesting.
There you go making assumptions and "interpreting" what I said. Where did I say I thought the women lied? What I said was, you can't just besmirch someone's reputation with unfounded accusations. What lies should I tell about you? The more lurid the better. Should people believe me just because? Read about slander and libel to get an understanding of what you can say without proof and what you can't say. You can offer opinions. I can say that I think Mr. X is ugly or I think he makes too much money. But I can't say he cheats on his taxes or he assaulted me 30 years ago unless I am prepared to offer proof. The first two are clearly my opinion no one with any sense would take them as facts and yet when someone says that Trump "colluded" with Russia to win the 2016 election and can't provide any facts even after FOUR investigations, that is slander. It's just that Trump is a public figure and so the rules are different for him than they are for the rest of us. The problem with the left is they are willing to believe that derogatory, self-serving statements are facts when they are simply opinion. An example of that is the accusation against Trump regarding his conversation with the Ukrainian President. It was someone's OPINION that his request for an investigation was improper. That doesn't make it a fact. However, Joe, in his own voice, on tape committing the crime that Trump is asking be investigated is completely ignored. That is hypocrisy of the worst kind. How is that not quid pro quo? "I won't give you the money unless you fire the prosecutor who is investigating my son's employer?" What evidence do you need? You want the stuff typed, well just look at some of Hunter's emails to see that he was getting paid for "access" to his father. Do you think people are willing to pay millions for dinner and a selfie? No, they expected something in return and they got it via the legislation Biden supported or didn't support and the visas people got and the investigations that he stopped.

Parler is having a bad day too

I thought we already cleared up this free speech thing and what it means. Guess not. The Americans here should really brush up on understanding that and the rest of their rights.

yeah, Tamir Rice was a clear and present danger.

Do you think people are willing to pay millions for dinner and a selfie? No, they expected something in return
Maybe a Half million

Doubtful. Why? Do you think they did?
Were you not making the point that because Trump has multiple accusers, it is unlikely that they all lied?

So does Canada. That doesn't make them right. It just makes them Marxists.
I disagree with that comment Pat. We have a right-wing Conservative government in the UK, while you are about to have a left-wing socialist government in a few days time, complete with its radical progressives element. The Conservative governments recent re-election in the UK was a landslide, one of the largest wins in the last 100 years. In fact they have stayed in power for the last 11 years now. Yet if you look at the US, in the last 11 years most of those were with a socialist leader. It seems that if we were to call a particular country Marxist, it would be the US. I think that is fair comment.

America seems quite unique in the complete freedom of speech issue. I think most other countries moderate what you can or can't say. The problem I have with it is the levels of moderation, which have become a slippery slope. Reasonable restrictions - such as banning racial chanting of monkey noises at football matches - has been outlawed. It still seems to go on in Italy, Spain and Russia quite a bit.

But the problem is the continual encroachment of rights over what you can or cannot say. The PC brigade continually try to police what is deemed acceptable, constantly moving the goalposts to the point where innocent minded people are committing all sorts of offences. This type of thinking also reminds me of Eskimos, with their 50 words for different types of snow. Just having words for them help see the distinctions. By creating so many "offences", people see these micro-offences where they never saw them before. Consequently, they are permanently outraged. It outrages me!
