Sen. Barack Obama - US first black president?

Wasn't he one of GWB's advisors during the beginning of the Iraq conflict or am I thinking of somebody else.

Any how, what do you feel would change under a black president?

The biggot is back. I'm done...

Sorry Scott.

Colin your views when it comes to America - are so laden with malice that you have become a bit of a joke and not a funny one at that 90% of what you say is anti american - -
Yes the US has problems - but I think you might also have one - you might be a touch racists when it comes to America, any view except yours is wrong - thats not a discussion - Hilter had the same sort of view -" I am right and you are the problem" if you don't agree then I'll hang you or gas you ..
Sometimes you should look at what good the Amercian have done( and don't say none) there have been some great americans (as well as some shit ones)
however you nearly always go for the shit ones and use them as your examples .

try using a good one

George Washington...didn't he kick out the British....

More fool him.

Not going to go through the whole list but didn't Bill Cody wipe out the buffalo to starve the real owners of the land into submission so that the whites could steal the land? I suppose that makes him a good white American.

Brian

PS the museum named after him is very good.

Yeap..

A black PM will arrive around the same time as an English singles winner at Wimbledon.

I believe both sets of likely candidates come from the same sort of institutions.

So I'm like Hitler? Where have I said I would gas Americans (or hang them)?

Had you been around here longer, you'll know I have said many flattering things about the USA and US people.

I am a big fan of US pop (Beach Boys, Everly's, Elvis, Berry etc) it is the birth of all other pop - also I love the big US 1950's cars, think what we had at that time - America was 'the' place and unobtainable to us Brits.

I love US TV programmes - in particular like crime ones ranging from '77 Sunset Strip' through to more modern day stuff.

Many (or most) US people are extremely polite and conduct themselves impecably overseas (which is more than the Brits do)
Elvis always referred to people as 'sir' or 'maam' even at his iconic status.

Sadly though, there are some US posters here who like to needle others - those are the ones I bite back at.

Hmmm - Poland sounds good this time of year - now where's that tank??

Guys,

What do you think the possibility is of the US having for the first time in history a black president?

Will it / won't it happen?

If it does, how will America change?

Open for discussion........

Hey Scott,

I live in the USA and in The South. I believe the possibilities of our country having a black president are very good. However, I think it's going to take someone standing up for the right issues. Obama is probably not going to be that man, but I do not think it will have anything to do with the color of his skin. Same goes for a female president. White only buses and other such comments are nonsense and just flat out aren't true. It seems to me that any election boils down to the issues and opinions. If we don't agree with the stands that an individual makes on issues that are important to us then we will not vote for them. At this point I don't think skin color or gender plays into the equation. I have not voted for many white men but it did not have anything to do with them being white or being a man. I just didn't agree with their stands on issues that were important to me.
