Sen. Barack Obama - US first black president?

They were going on about how they enjoyed a chinky together or something like that (and perhaps enjoyed a fag afterwords?)... And from my perspective it was just kidding a little personal for a public forum... excuse me - a WORLDWIDE forum :p:p

I wish Col would make up his mind

I wish Col would make up his mind

I hope you are not insinuating he swings both ways -

Half rice, half chips as Col and Rich might say when out for a chinky.

We'll see if Rich admits his dubious persuasion - its not natural where he is - but quite common unfortunately.

Hes come out before - I'm sure he will again.

Wow. It's deja vu, all over again...

I'd love to walk in a bar in Georgia and ask if they have any fags

Col

Who am I to judge the pursuit of alternative lifestyles? You go Col! I doubt you will have to go that far to find one. You'd probably have to clarify what you meant in Georgia however. Even you could not be so ignorant (or am I giving you too much credit?) to not know that word also means something else entirely besides a cigarette.

It's nice to see another topic getting another go around for a change. ;)

I'd like to see Col clarify any confusion in this Georgia bar - by explaining - that he means he would like to bum a fag - if this still met with hostility, he could offer to pay for them.

I think Col was originally setting his sights too low.

I agree. The quality of fags in ga is rathe.....

>must..... bite..... my...... lip..... and......try..... to....... be......nice<

Never mind :)

I'll take your word for it. :)
My point wasn't that people don't use the word to mean food, I know they do. The point was that a lot of people find it offensive. The fact that the people saying it don't know/care that they're being insulting doesn't alter anything.

My advice to those in my country who find it offensive is for them to exercise their democratic right to return home;)
Britain is now ruled by immigrants, political correctness and politicians who have buried their heads in the sand:rolleyes:

You sound like an American. I knew if you hung around long enough we'd have a positive influence. :)

Don't try and take the credit for the feelings of a large part of the British population, we were here before you!:p

Err no ..
the vast majority of people (*in the UK) do not say chinky - they say going for a chinnese or an indian ..
Please do not presume to speak for the majority - maybe in your part of the country they do - but not in London nor the home counties . where the majority live/work .

I find these slang terms bordering on hatrid and fuels the BNP ability to manuliate peoples views .

I an glad that the chinnese are inthe UK - and the same with indians(pakistian) the food has added a flavour to our diets that is fantastic .
we eat more curry than fish & Chips .

Subtle use of insolent words and phrases like chinky and 'hint of the tarbrush' can cause a lot problems to be so easily avoided...

red rag to a bull (for me anyway)
if used in the right place and in a joke can be humourous - but you got to be very sure of where your coming from..
pretty much the same for the "******" word - I find it repulsive - and thats if any one uses the word - black/white- its just a word thats full of negative

the word used to mean people (slaves from the River Niger) and in Germany it is a name of a drink (Rum- a special type begin with the letter A * Coke) - and the Brit Blacks there used to give some funny looks to the people asking for it ..- they were prepared to accept the word for a drink - but I still felt uneasy with it so to me it was a rum & coke , and the guys appricated it

so any belittling of people really pisses me off . (excuse the langauge here ) to the point that i start to get a bit arse-y

I rant and rumble here ..

Anything racist set's me off (mind you people who play the black card also set me off as well- but it doesn't happen in the UK - often anyway)

That odd. I think (this will be dangerous:)), people playing the race card is the cause of the majority of racial problem in the US.
