In the news today, the Australian PM has apologised to the native agorignes for the past conduct of the non indigenant nationals.

Be interesting to see if any US president had apologised to the native american indians for stealing their land...

Or indeed if any Scandinavian premiers would be willing to apologise to the UK for the conduct of the Vikings in the Saxon age in the UK?

Where do you think the apologies should stop....

Will Bush and Bliar apologise for the lies over Iraq? Don't hold your breath:rolleyes:

If this means squat to the average 'native agorigne' I'd be amazed. More like a stepping stone to a bunch of lawyers getting fee's for handing 'compensation' to them from hard working tax payers money...

Here in the Netherlands we are still waiting for apologies from the Brits for
seizing 27 ships back in 1651. :mad::rolleyes:

If you'd have been pro Limes at the time instead of the Orange it wouldn't have happened:p:cool:
anyway the Yanks still haven't payed the tax owed on their tea or even apologised for dumping such a valuable cargo

The ships didn't carry limes or oranges, but mainly spices which we stole form the Indies ( for which we later apologized), but despite that the Brits confronted us with naval blockades crippling Dutch overseas trade. ;)

This started the first of three Anglo-Dutch wars :o

To get to the nub of the matter we men are waiting for an apology from Eve, but have you ever heard a woman say sorry? :(

Wouldn't this come from that slimy movie where it says : "love means never have to say I'm sorry" :D

No probs I can apologise for that, but only if you Dutchies apologise for making those poor drunk English folk ill after going to Amsterdam coffee shops :D

Btw I am living in NL at the moment ;)

I think saying sorry is the easy part (although obviously much too difficult for John Howard to spit out!) Actually doing something (both white and aboriginal) to improve their conditions is where it gets a bit difficult

It's all a bunch of legal mumbo-jumbo - Once you apologise you've admitted to doing something wrong then you have to reconcile...

It's all lawyer crap...

Shouldn't the British apologize since they started a colony down under?

No more than we should apologise for the US
Surely in view of what you say we have a lot to apologise for. Inflicting the United States on the world :D:confused:

No they thought they could run their own country better, who am I to list where they've gone wrong since then?;)

I thought perhaps we owed the rest of the world the apology

The problem with apologies is that it admits guilt/wrongdoing.
That admittance opens up a country to legal woes.
I read in the paper today that legal action is now being discussed now that Australia has admitted to wrongdoing(issuing an apology).

How far back do we as humans(counties) need to issue an apology? 50years, 100yrs, 500yrs?

Select any country and you will find an ethnic group or country they did something wrong to.

.

Which was the point of my first post about Adam and Eve.

One of the problems we have is in judging past events by todays moral standards.
