It seems like everyone is twittering these days - especially this month (March).

Maybe the phenomenon has just finally caught up with the people I know..

How about you? Have you started twittering this month? Have you noticed a drastic increase in the number of people using it?

Eric

Don't like it and won't use it. That's my opinion of it.

I haven't used it either - seems like facebook status - but without the bits that make facebook useful.

Maybe someone who deos use it will let us know why?

I was thinking I would get some clicks to different sites or URL's I put up, but when I check my stats today there was only three referrals.

It's like microblogging, but it automatically consolidates all the people you are following onto a single home page view.

I signed up for it, found it to be extremely boring! Stopped using it, but didn't delete my profile, I now have a total of 20 people following me and I haven't said a word! I wonder if they'd stop following if I said something lol.

Have enough problem with people twittering at work. Why should I volunteer for more

Tell them your name is Doris Lemming and you're going to walk off a cliff, they'll probably ask which one so they can join you.:D

LOL, I almost had you as a stalker there, but Doris is my sister and I don't see you following me on tweeter :p

What possesses people to follow a total stranger (and believe me they rarely come any stranger) who has given no information about themselves! Note to self, check your tweeter account and see if the stalkers are chatting amongst themselves :o

I did a join/follow to everyone in my yahoo account, and there is a "Chicago Bloggers" yahoo group, a lot of those people were in my contacts... they might recognize my name from the yahoo group, but probably not. So I ended up following a bunch of people who don't know me. I guess that would qualify as stalking.

OTOH, a bunch of those people turned around and followed me for no apparent reason except that I followed them. So some people might be inclined to spam-follow everyone in hopes that some of those people will in turn follow them. i.e. in an attempt to get themselves noticed and get more followers for themselves.

hope this makes some sense.

Eric

If you follow those who follow you, don't you get dizzy?

Yeah, maybe they should have a Lead button for leading people.

i.e. instead of "Follow this person", you would click on "Lead this person".

However it might be abused.

Eric

Something definately needs to be done before it gets out of hand. It's a worry, all those people walking around in circles thinking they are following someone who is actually following them! Talk about the blind leading the blind !

Maybe you should get onto Gordon Brown and warn him of the consequences

Oh, I don't know, I think GB is doing a fine job. You do realise he's working under cover for the SNP don't you :p

This was funny!

Anyway, I think this is just the latest fad. Who knows how long it will last.

If you spend all that time keeping up with your Twitter and Facebok and MySpace and Email and Blog and Vlog and Utube and Bulletinboards where do you have time to do something other than communication? This might be a nice ego trip for some people to be able to communicate to a lot of people but what the heck would you have to talk about if all your time is spent talking?

I looked at this and was wondering... It's basically for people who do a lot of texting on cell phone gizmos right? And don't you get charged for each text message you send? If so couldn't your text messaging costs grow exponentially???
