American eating challenge

It's amazing how we can turn an innocent thread about eating challenges, into a Bash Col, Bash a Yank thread...

Oh well... business as usual I guess..

Col doesn't mind being bashed, he enjoys a good bit of insult slinging amongst his questioning.

I only asked for one. I hope that you realised that I meant "In Contex"

This is what I wrote."Where is an alternative meaning.? " The AN meant singular.

Sorry If I confused you.

There are other meanings but they do not suit the situation. A lot of them are about trolling for fish.

Keeping warm I hope. Might be time to find a new eleven. I thought that you where harsh the other week but it appears not.

Why use that word. Do you know what it means.

an immoral or promiscuous woman, especially a prostitute.

In context? was this in context?

As to the cricket I don't really follow it but our players performed abysmally, did they just go for a holiday?
Maybe they were confused by the sun being in the wrong place, I was once when travelling down under, went East instead of west , well would have done if Hazel hadn't corrected me. :o

Of course Americans are racist. What does THAT have to do with anything? I believe that some degree of racism is present in each and every one of us - but we - or I at least - take great pains to suppress it because I know it's wrong.

Even your question to me is a bit on the prejudiced side, Col - because I made a comment about a specific individual - i.e. you, and you turn it back to me by asking if the citizens of a whole country - namely The United States of America are racist. So you go from the specific to the general - which is a form of racism.

And I'm aware that the term "racist" is a bit inappropriate, as "American" is not a race, it's a nationality, and our nation is represented by every single race on the entire planet - and they're all welcome here - one of the great things about us, which our critics rarely mention. And I'm not saying, Col, that you are heinous or malicious, really, but I've been put on the defensive many many times by your comments and no, I can't give you a specific example - it's a feeling I have. To dredge up all the posts where you've made negative comments about us would take more energy than I possess, at the moment - it's been a long day.

And I'm aware that my great and powerful country has pulled a lot of sh!t in it's relatively brief history, much that I don't agree with, much that I wish never happened. But you should be aware that it's the government of a country that pulls the sh!t, not the citizens. In fact I'm of an age when I was in college when there was vast disapproval of my country's policies, in Vietnam, in Chile, In Europe, in a whole host of places, and I was among the dissenters.

And I'm aware that many of our citizens are crass, ill-mannered (at least by some standards) and have a poor command of the American English language. But I would hope, by now, that you have realized that not every one of the 300 million citizens of my nation display the kind of poor temperament, etiquette, and sloppy language skills that you apparently ascribe to us all.

And if I've totally misrepresented you, then tell me I've done so, that you DON'T in fact think we're all pinheads, that America has done SOME good in the world, and that you think that some of us are in fact worthy of friendship, compassion, and respect, and I might change my mind about you.

That is all (for now)

So instead of not feeding the trolls, you decide to dish up a heaping helping. You asked for it. :banghead:

But when faced with a fire, do you add fuel?

Yes, if you are trolling. Not that I troll.

Hey Jax old buddy, I have to stop in Orange Park in Aug., how about you treating me to Sam's Saint Johns. :D

There are better steaks!

A meetup is certainly an option. The tab on the other hand... :p

Sam's was just humor as I know you are not wild about Sea Food, in fact I am not even sure Sam's has steak, when I go to Sam's it is always for their seafood platter. Closer to that date I will be able to know where my hotel is and we can meet somewhere between. Should we invite Col, I'll pay his airfare?
The date I will be there is around Aug. 12th. Should we bring our laptops, or would that be asking for trouble.

Hey, you guys in the UK did you bring Laptops?

Anybody else near Jacksonville, FL interested?

Laptops are a no go! I prefer to avoid technology while not at work. It's a shame really. I used to love computer work.

I agree. A few years back I went to Costa Rica to preach. When found out I was a retired Navy Welder they pulled out there welding machine.

You talk about steaks how about 72 oz. I have seen a lot of people complete this meal in one sitting. The steaks are great.

Did anyone ever watch Man VS Food? He used to eat 5-6 lbs of different foods in one sitting on some of those challenges. He was always a little overweight, but regularly exercised and had regular check-ups. He always ended up ok. He's now stopped the show and lost a lot of weight.

I can't imagine him being able to eat that much now with his weight down... but then you see this guy:

If you cannot understand it after this, then there is no help for you.

Although, I have a good feeling you already know and are just trying to troll, yourself. :p

I can honestly say that I have never before understood the word Troll in the way you are using it.

That is why I asked the question. It is as simple as that.

Do you realise what you have said here. Suggest you rethink.

Trolls, schmolls. I have never shied away from a verbal boxing match in my life, and I'm not about to start. Actual combat, not so much. But words are my arrows and my shield. Come on, come on (fancy footwork, feign left, dance to the right, a little rope-a-dope).

Always happy to educate the masses on interweb lingo. :D

The Sun rises in the East no matter where in the world you are.

I thought a Guy like you would know about that sort of thing.

The Sun rises in the East no matter where in the world you are.

I guess you have never travelled to the northern hemisphere. The relationship of the Sun's azimuth to East and West is reversed compared to the southern hemisphere.
