Libre, how did I tweak your nose? I admitted that I had not read your first post properly and asked for the location of the one and only place as you put it, after that you took the hump, got personal and only talked vaguely, not even given any references to back your changing criteria.

Seems nobody really cares but the three countries besides Panama that can see the sun rise over the Pacific and set over the Atlantic are Canada, Mexico and the USA.

Rises across the Pacific in Hawaii and the Aleutian Islands.
Sets across the Atlantic on the west side of Florida (across the Gulf of Mexico).

Mexico: Rises across the Pacific in Baja California (across the Gulf of California).
Sets across the Atlantic from the Yucatan Peninsula (across the Gulf of Mexico).

Canada:
Rises across the Pacific from Vancouver Island (across the Strait of Georgia).
Sets across the Atlantic from Newfoundland (across the Gulf of St Lawrence).

Aside from the obvious such as offsore islands it is immediately obvious that a convoluted coastline is the requirement to reverse the perspective. Not hard to find.

Busy day here too (eating crow) but the thing about panama is that it does both (rises and sets etc etc) and possibly (I don't know) from the same exact spot (as Brian correctly stated is important for this to have any meaning).

I very much doubt that any single location in Panama could see both oceans let alone meet the criteria.

The radio station America FM was doing one of
its 'Is Anyone Listening?' bits this morning.

The first question was; 'Ever have a celebrity
come up with the ' Do you know who I am? ' routine?'

A woman called in and said that a few years ago,
while visiting her cattle rancher uncle in Billings , MT ,

She had occasion to go to dinner at a restaurant
that does not take reservations .
The wait was about 45 minutes;
Many local ranchers and their wives were waiting.

Ted Turner and his ex-wife Jane Fonda came in the
restaurant and wanted a table.
The hostess informed them that they'd have to wait 45 minutes.

Jane Fonda asked the hostess, 'Do you know who I am?'
The hostess answered, 'Yes, but you'll have to wait 45 minutes .'

Then Jane asked if the manager was in.
When the manager came out, he asked, 'May I help you?'
'Do you know who we are?' both Ted and Jane asked.
Yes, but these folks have been waiting, and I can't put you ahead of them.'

Then Ted asked to speak to the owner.
The owner came out, and Jane again asked, 'Do you know who I am?'
The owner answered, 'Yes, I do.

I very much doubt that any single location in Panama could see both oceans let alone meet the criteria.

Galax - an east/west latitudinal line through central Panama touches the atlantic to the west and the pacific to the east. It is also mountainous right there. Standing on a peak - and without moving (except rotating 180 degrees in place) - one could theoretically see (especially with binoculars) the sun rise over the pacific to the east and set in the west into the atlantic (okay the Caribbean), fulfilling all the criteria of the problem.

Galaxiom - I agree completely. WWII was the last war that the US HAD to fight - and even that could be challenged but I for one think so. But after that, the US has treated war like kind of a board game, with no real consequences. Just a big game of Risk, roll the dice, move pieces here and there.
The story about how Ted Turner and Jane Fonda were refused service makes me angry for a few reasons. One is that celebrities assume they can move to the head of a line. Two is that restaurant owners can deny someone service because they disagree with the political beliefs and activism of someone wishing to be served. Jane Fonda disagreed with a horrible war and had a picture taken with the "enemy" - the enemy the US made our enemy. She apologized for it - not for her anti-war activism but for that particular incident because it was hurtful to some people. Not as hurtful as napalm - we can be sure of that. Was her apology sincere? Who the hell knows. Does the restaurant owner serve religious folks? Weren't there a few crusades and some inquisitions and all that? Aren't there sexually abused children who were molested by religious folks? Does the restaurant owner serve Right to Lifers? Haven't some of them murdered abortion doctors and staff?
The whole article (if you can call it that) is a sham.
The only bright spot is the tag line saying you can't believe everything on the internet - so it's probably untrue, the possibly bogus address of the restaurant notwithstanding.

Dick - I'm not sure I get your post 100%, but it's pretty clear that the booths on the ground - if you mean the soldiers themselves - are not to be held responsible for the hideous decisions of the government. I have to admit that I've aided our government fight these unjust and unnecessary wars by being an engineer in the aerospace defense industry for 25 years or so (but no longer, glad to say). I'm just as culpable as the guys that flew the fighters, fired the missiles, and dropped the bombs from the launchers and racks that I helped design. Damned good training for a designer though, I'll tell you that. But I never felt comfortable about it.

Oh! I agree with you 100% and I think you with me. I am have never been comfortable with any wars and that's why I choose to serve my time in the Seabees. Instead of destruction they build. My point no matter how much someone my be against any war the way to go about it is not to put our troops in more danger. Even if that story is false about jane I still like it.

Out side of snopes does any body have proof it is not true. I have talked to people in past years that say snopes has been caught in lies and for money. I personally have no information myself but it would not surprise me.
