Any Americans want to sign this?

Actually it's not, but I don't think that necessarily makes a difference. A majority of the legislature has shown themselves to be spineless when put under pressure by the executive branch. In my mind, it is more about who has principles and who is willing to stand up for what is right even when it is unpopular more that which party someone belongs to. People like Feingold, Kucinich, Wexler, and Hagel.

It's not?!?!? In what way? I'm pretty sure that Speaker Pelosi is as Democrat as it comes.

However, I agree that it doesn't really make a difference.
Kucinich? SRSLY??? That guy has seen UFO's!

It is sad to see that the sacrifices of those who gave us the right to belong to unions are so un-appreciated. People died for unions. And now we are complacent, and in some cases it seems we are even grateful to let big corporations walk all over us, workers rights be damned.

Unions were ABSOLUTELY necessary when they started. Toledo (where I work) had several union employees give their lives for the cause. But nowadays they're all about "gimmee, gimmee, gimmee". As my favorite local libertarian talk show host says...
"I can't afford to contribute to my 401k because I'm too damned busy contributing to theirs."
I beliee he was referring to some AFSCME union. (the ULTIMATE evil -unionized government employees)

Interesting. Which ones did you answer non-neutrally on?

I pretty much strongly agreed that illegal immigrants should be sent packing - and the federal government gets to keep ALL of the stuff they accumulated during their visit.

I strongly disagreed that there should be ANY form of universal healthcare.

I strongly agreed that govt should stay out of business.

I think the enviroment stuff is a load of crap.

I don't care about the rest of it.

That's funny, I would have expected your JM score to come out higher . . .

Maybe unions shouldn't have gotten themselves into the position that they have, otherwise folks might could/would be grateful.

I think you are missing the point. WHY were they sent over there in the first place? What was the reason to subject our young men and women to so much suffering? For what did they sacrifice so much?

Well, when I call to serve my country, I didn't ask why. I did it because my Comander in Chief ask me.

If it was today, I would say the same no matter who it was. If Obama or McCain ask me, I would do it with no questions why. To me Alisa, it takes a special type of people to do things without asking why. You do it, because I guess I would rather do it over there, then here. That way I know Alisa and her family can go to sleep at night and get up the next morning and carry on like nothing is going on in there world. Missing the point......no, not really.
Try to ask your Uncles or Aunts that serve there country that same question, and see what kind of answer you get.

Just my thoughts. Is right or wrong? Don't know, I just knew what I had to do. Did people like me when I came back, no not really, but I knew in my heart what I had to do, so people like yourself can go on and question why we do these things.

You don't find it slightly odd that we supposedly have no foreign relations with Cuba, and as U.S. citizens, are even forbidden to vacation there, and yet we have a huge prison there? You know, when Cuba got hit by two hurricanes in the last two weeks, I was kind of hoping that they would do some damage to that place. No such luck I guess.
I've never understood the US maintaining what comes across as a sulk towards Cuba. I just figured the government had finally gotten over itself and was now in normal discussions with the place.

The key word here is SUSPECTED, there's not a shred of evidence against the majority of them that would stand up to scrutiny in the Western world, even in the US
I get that. As I said, the way the prisoners are treated is wrong. I don't see anything wrong with the place itself.

Well you might get to see some of the damage inflicted by America to start with

Well good morning Rich, like I said no matter how I would answer you, the Americans are wrong. So whats the point. :) :) :)

Unions, corporations, governments ... households, playgrounds, religion ... corruption does not discriminate.

It goes back to accountablity and whatever that line was about absolute power.

Truest things posted on this thread so far.

The unions - the CAW in particular - are huge in the area I'm currently living and the ways they abuse their power is frightening.

I spent a wile working for the HR department in one of the local car plants and just from the stuff I saw, it was forced to
  • Hire unqualified people who were related to one of the union leaders
  • Allow people to keep their jobs after they repeatedly turned up for work drunk
  • Allow people to keep their jobs after stealing from the plant
  • Promote incompetent people, due to 'seniority'
  • Lay off decent, hardworking people who didn't have the seniority
In each of the above cases, the plant was told that if they didn't do as told, there would be a strike. They called one at least twice. They also call one every time contract negotiations are due, just to remind the plant who's in charge.

Back when they started, unions were useful and did a lot of good. Anyone who thinks they're now not open to abuse and don't spend much of their time working out ways for members to 'milk' the system is living in a dream world.

hehehe .. probably, someone stated they wanted a 'I really don't care' option - I agree.

Probably my pro-military stance that leaned me over. That stance has kept the world from speaking German and Japanese predominently but in retrospect maybe the world would have been better off united under the Axis powers. There wouldn't be any terrorists for sure except for those trying to get democracy.

An anarchist!? Won't Mama be proud!

I was looking for the "I don't care", too. Maybe we're really "apathists".

/now I've got that damned Sex Pistols song stuck in my head

hehehe ...

Code:
Apathy is the glove into which evil slips its hand.

If so, it accounts for the way things are with corruption everywhere.

Well good morning Rich, like I said no matter how I would answer you, the Americans are wrong. So whats the point. :) :) :)

Good afternoon, now I'm a firm believer that Americans can be saved, it's the leadership that's seriously flawed, paranoid, insecure, gunho, etc. etc.

Rich, you made my day, we can be saved.:D I was real worried about that. So now its the leaders of America. I just don't know what we can do about it. I guess thats why we have elections, I mean its just a guess on my part.

From reading alot of YOUR remarks, I just don't think we have a chance to meet your standards. But if I do remember, I thought you approved of Clinton. Now there was a stand up guy ;););) ...............ya right.

O well just me going off again. I don't want to be dodging any statements or questions.

Hey Rich, you have a good day now.

But if I do remember, I thought you approved of Clinton. Now there was a stand up guy ;););) ...............
Absolutely, not prone to knee jerk reactions, just content with rolling a cigar:p

The government is supposed to be by the people and for the people. If the government starts an illegitmate war based on lies, it is our duty to question their motives. It is unpatriotic to blindly follow leaders that do not have our best interests at heart.

You still have not answered my original question. What exactly did Iraq do to deserve our occupation?
