I've sought only clarification on a couple of seemingly ambiguous posts and am therefore somewhat puzzled by your post

Let's face it. A lot of us in this industry are "not quite normal" people. Endre came clean a while back and revealed he was a highly functioning autistic. It took me a long time to admit it but I know myself I am on the edge of the spectrum.

On the edge or not, we all need to be cut a little slack sometimes.

Bob can be a bit impulsive and confrontational sometimes but he deserves the credit for apologising for having overstepped the mark. Unfortunately Col's vulnerabilty finds a need to repeatedly dig up the distant past. It is pointless and divisive and he needs to get a grip. Sadly it does him more harm than any of us.

We the "not quite normal" must also be aware of our own propensity to go off the track and realise there are limits to what will be tolerated.

Because I was embarrassed to have acknowledged them, when gentlemen, such as yourself, and ladies exist on this forum.

And yes sir, Thales is indeed one of my long dead mentors. He is attributed to being the “Father of Science” to the Ancient Greeks. In actuality though, he most likely copied it from India or Iran.
So maybe not so much the Father, as the Messenger.
Plus, sadly, not much of what he wrote seems to have survived.

It's mildly interesting that when Bin Laden was in hiding we were told his influence over Al-Qaeda was small...now that's he kaput, we are hearing reports that his influence was significant. The story turns to suit the moment.
