Just a quick note to say my employers made me an offer I didn't feel like declining so I'm retiring to become a full time rock star. I'll pop in here from time to time to see how the UK vs US war is going but my Access days are probably over. Thanks to everyone who helped me over the years and greetings to those who have become friends from every corner of this circular globe.

Now where did I put that bloody guitar???......................

Good luck, Barry. I'll be in the UK next month, so I'll check your website to see if you're playing anywhere nearby.

That's good news Barry, welcome to the club ;)
Perfect time to build you're own sound studio. like I did. So if you need any
technical advice, just pop in and we'll discuss some features while sipping
a good St Emilion or two

Oh Barry, we'll miss you, don't be a stranger! I'll come see you play one of these days.

Looks like you flew with United Airlines

Welcome to the world of early retirement. :)
I took the high road and left my previous long term employer a few years back and never regretted getting out of the frontline of the rat race.

I tried some typical retirement stuff for the first couple of days
- walked around the garden in slippers and a rope from 10 - noon
- sat in a coffee shop and read the newspaper cover to cover making sure I rustled the pages a lot while turning and muttering about the failures of the current younger generation
- sipped on a tea as loud as possible and dunked a few biscuits in it
- yelled at a couple of kids that they have no respect for no apparent reason
- fed some poor wildlife bits of stale bread from a paper bag
Then I started back to making a living but this time on my terms.

I hope you enjoy this portion of life's adventures and see the silver lining and not just the clouds.:)

Now there's a statement that captures the imagination! I hope it was summer 50!!! :D

Enjoy the time.
Thanks for those times you helped me out.

Barry - Welcome to early retirement world. You'll enjoy it - you'll have a list of jobs to do sometime in the next year. You can nap in the afternoons, go to town and watch the world go by. Nice.

Thanks for being a mate all these years, good luck.

Col

PS - I'm still waiting for the cheque from that Macca gig you booked for me. Did Macca send it to you?

Good luck Barry.
One of the nice things about retiring early is that after a while you get really bored. Hire yourself out as an Access consultant but only part time. Just enough work and just enough money to make it worthwhile getting out of bed in the morning.

This assumes the music gig doesn't work out. By all means follow your dreams first.

Good luck, Barry. Please post back when the North American tour schedule is finalized.

Best of luck, Barry! Make sure you enjoy yourself

Thank-you one and all. I'm on the road selling our two bands at the moment and getting the world tour of the West Midlands booked. Tour jackets will be available from my marketing associate Mr C Essex, book early - limited supply. We may need a little time to conquer North America but I'll start looking into it soon.

As for becoming an Access consultant - I wouldn't work for anyone stupid enough to employ me - it would only end in tears!

Now Ron there is a law against ill treatment of guitars, either you're heavy handed or you strung it to the wrong pitch!

I shall be keeping an eye on you from time to time so behave yerselves and Col and Rich be nice to our US friends, they're alright.

Cheers Barry

Been away so just picked this up.
Have a long and happy retirement Barry, and beware the wife's rolling wish list.

Brian
