But I think that you understand why we don't want English-only signs in a place where 85% of the population is French. And as Fifty2one said, we are not against biligual signs, but against English-only signs.
The "50% of the size" is not a major problem here, as most of the population would agree with equal size. What we are all against is English-only signs, signs where the French is so small that you cannot read it or signs which are so badly translated that we have less problem with the Mandarin, Arabic or Hebrew version.
B in a place where 85% of the population is French. .
I thought that you were supposed to be Canadian?![]()

Granted ive only been to Ontario and Quebec so im not sure if its a whole country thing, but what does the flashing green light mean on the stop lights?
It means that the cars facing you see a red light. Therefore, you can make a left turn without problems.

Talking of abbreviations - what about this 'textspeak'?Its awful, and kids today are using it in general writing. I have actually rung the person after receiving a text to get them to explain what they said.
I always use correct grammar in texts, (comma's, colons, brackets etc), in 5 years correct English grammar will be obsolete - or even worse, similar to the pigeon English the Americans write and speak![]()
Fortunately, kids are told if they use textspeak in an exam they will lose marks for incorrect grammar, so there is a glimmer of hope.

You final paragraph should have commas surroning "in an exam".
What's surroning mean, is it a new text speak word?![]()
