:confused: AutoLookUp wont save the field

I need some help please!
I've created a query to use the AutoLookUp feature, this almost works fine and well. I have a form to add a new record. On this form the autolookup feature works, as I select the company, the contact name is automatically filled in. But on completing the record all details are saved except from the autolookup entry (contact name) it isnt saved to the table.
Can anyone help me please?
 
Did you bind the control to the proper field in the table?

sorry i dont quite understand what u mean by control?
 
On a form you place text boxes, labels, etc. These are referred to as controls. It was just a guess, but I was wondering if the text box on the form where you are placing the contact name has the proper field in the underlying table set as it's 'control source' in the properties dialog box?

yeah ive just checked and its definately bound to the right field, all other fields are saved just not this one!! Thanks
 
I have the query like u say, and that is the recordsource for the form. The purpose of the form is to add new orders, so i need to save the contactname again in the orders table so when viewing orders the contact name is in there. Phew!
 
You should bring in both rables to view the orders, if the contact name changed you would , presumably, need to see the new contact, how would you do that if you had stored the contact name in the orders table?
